Krešimir Saša Đurić, M.D., Ph.D., specialist in neurosurgery, joined the staff of St. Catherine Specialty Hospital in 2019. Upon completing his neurosurgical residency, Dr. Đurić focused his professional work on the field of spinal diseases and continued acquiring specific knowledge, skills, and experiences relevant to the full range of degenerative, inflammatory, traumatic, and tumor diseases of the spine.

After graduating from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 2008, Dr. Đurić soon displayed a strong interest in neurosurgery. He joined the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Hospital Center Zagreb first as an intern, and then as a resident in 2010. He passed his specialist exam in neurosurgery in 2016, and since then has been practicing at the Department of Neurosurgery as an independent neurosurgeon.

In the course of his residency, Dr. Đurić was involved in the clinical and academic work of the Department and attended or actively participated in numerous professional gatherings in Croatia and abroad. He was awarded the Eurospine Travel Grant in 2011 and the award for best lecture presented by the Croatian Neurosurgical Society in 2014. During his residency, Dr. Đurić enrolled in Biomedicine and Health graduate studies, which he completed in 2018 by earning his PhD degree with the doctoral thesis entitled Biomechanical stability analysis of transpedicular screws combined with sublaminar hook-rod system on a computed finite element model. The thesis was mentored by Professor of Neurosurgery Marin Stančić, MD, PhD, and Professor Jurica Sorić, PhD, Head of the Department of Mechanics at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture. In 2014, Dr. Đurić was visiting physician at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, USA, where he had the opportunity to get acquainted with new achievements in the field of craniocervical junction surgery.

At present, Dr. Đurić is involved in treating the full range of spinal disorders, using minimally invasive methods as well as complex reconstructive procedures with the aim of applying the optimal treatment modality for each individual patient.

Dr. Đurić is a member of a number of professional associations: the Croatian Neurosurgical Society, the Croatian Society for Skull Base Surgery, the US Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), and the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS).
