Shinya Imada, M.D., Ph.D. has an extensive work experience in the field of medical research and practice. Shinya is currently serving as a Senior Scientist at Microbial Machines since December 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Visiting Researcher and later as a Postdoctoral Researcher / Physician Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from May 2017 to November 2022.

Before their time at MIT, Dr. Imada worked as a Medical Doctor at Hiroshima University Department of Gastroenterological and Transplant Surgery from April 2012 to March 2013. Shinya also served as the Chief Resident of Surgery at Osaka International Cancer Institute from April 2010 to March 2012, and as a Surgical Resident at Osaka National Hospital from April 2007 to March 2010.

Dr. Imada began their medical career as a Resident Doctor at Kitakyushu General Hospital from April 2005 to March 2007. With their diverse experiences and expertise in medical research and practice, Dr. Imada has established himself as a reputable and knowledgeable professional in the field.

Shinya Imada, M.D., Ph.D. completed their education from 1999 to 2005 at Hiroshima University, where they earned a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree from the Department of Medicine. Shinya then pursued further education at Hiroshima University from 2014 to 2017, obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in the Department of Medicine.

In addition to their academic achievements, Dr. Imada has obtained several certifications. Shinya became a Board Certified Surgeon from the Japan Surgical Society in 2010. In 2013, they received the certification of a Board Certified Gastrointestinal Surgeon from The Japanese Society of Gastroenterological Surgery. Furthermore, they obtained their Medical License in Japan in April 2005 through the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare.
